Getting regular well-child visits by a pediatrician is an important part of maintaining your child’s lifelong health. At Olivero Pediatrics, we offer well-child visits for children of all ages. We are proud to contribute to our community by offering a path to wellness for children and their families. Our dedicated team of professionals is available to see you 5 days a week.
Well-child visits are helpful for both pediatricians and parents. It allows you time to speak with your child’s doctor about any concerns or questions you may have, as well as being an opportunity for your doctor to assess your child’s development and ensure they are meeting growth milestones. Regular visits with your child’s pediatrician can help facilitate an understanding between your experiences at home and your child’s office visits. Your insights are important to us because you see your child every day. We want to build a strong relationship with both you and your child that can ensure clear and open communication.
There are many different assessments, tests, and screenings your child will need throughout their lifetime. We offer lead testing to help you have peace of mind. Lead poisoning is most commonly caused by exposure to lead paint in old homes.
We typically test for lead exposure around 1-2 years of age. Beginning at about age 3, we recommend children receive a blood pressure check each time they visit our office. This allows us to monitor their blood pressure for any changes or problems. If their blood pressure is outside the normal range, it can be a sign of underlying illnesses. Your child’s vision and hearing should also be tested before they begin school, as well as regularly thereafter. If you notice your child squinting or crossing their eyes, or if you find that their speech is abnormal sounding, or they have a reduced response to loud sounds, please talk to your pediatrician about scheduling a test sooner if necessary.
In addition to the tests listed above, we also offer anemia and tuberculosis tests for young children, and we perform cholesterol testing on children beginning around age 2. These tests may be especially important for children with a family history of anemia high cholesterol, or children who live in places that may increase their chances of contracting tuberculosis. As your child grows, there will be other necessary screenings in addition to these.
Olivero Pediatrics can provide a full range of inoculations for school-age children, as well as check for scoliosis and other physical anomalies. We also provide testing services for adolescents and teenagers. We want to be a part of your child’s health from infancy to adulthood. We are proud to serve the College Park area, and we want you to feel comfortable and welcome each time you visit our office.
Your child is unique, and so is their health. By taking the time on a regular basis to bring them to Olivero Pediatrics, you are setting an example that their health is a priority. We know how much you care about your child’s health and safety, and we want to help support you by providing the individualized care you and your family deserve.
